FINE WOODWORKING

If you’re looking for an interactive environment where you can work with your hands, this program is for you! Students learn the necessary skills for drawing, designing, cutting, assembling, and finishing a woodworking project. Through a series of assigned woodworking projects, students learn to draw/read blueprints by hand and through our computerized drafting software, operate various tools & machinery, apply the finish in our spray booth, and install finished projects. Students will have the opportunity to be trained on all of our NEW state of the art machinery including our CNC Router, UpCut Cutoff Saw, Straight Line Rip Saw, SawStop Table Saws, Festool Miter Saws, Surface Planer, Jointers, Lathes, Shapers, Bandsaw, Scroll Saws, Panel Saw, Pocket-Hole Machine, Drill Press, Wide Belt Sander, Multi-Router, Spray booth, and many more!
Fine Woodworking focuses on creating all the interior woodwork that you find on the inside of your home, from the hardwood floors & trim, to kitchen cabinets & furniture throughout. Kitchens & bathrooms are the most expensive rooms within a home, and that is what we specialize in! Students will have the ability to work on live projects from around the school, or complete project requests from community members, such as the construction of kitchen cabinets as pictured below, allowing the students to gain valuable real-world experience throughout the program. Experienced Juniors & Seniors will also have the ability to design and build a woodworking project of their choosing. Junior & Senior students will have the opportunity to participate in the Cooperative Education Program where they will receive on-site training at one of the many finish carpentry businesses around Bucks County, allowing them to earn wages and further their skills while still being a student. Upon graduation, this program will well-equip students to gain skillful employment in all finish carpentry/woodworking industries, attend college, or join our armed forces. Through the use of learning guides, lectures, demonstrations, internships, co-op, and the above projects, we feel we can best prepare our students for careers in any of the woodworking & finish carpentry fields.

Students in the Fine Woodworking Program can earn college credits!
Students can earn up to 3 Credits in the Fine Woodworking Degree Program (Curriculum Code 1187) and the Furniture & Cabinetmaking Certificate Program (Curriculum Code 3187) at Bucks County Community College. Competencies achieved in the Fine Woodworking Program at BCTHS are deemed potentially equivalent to the following Bucks County Community College course:
VAFW140-Cabinetmaking (3 credits)
