June 29, 2021                                                                        RE:  100% In-person for 2021-22

Dear BCTHS Students, Parents, Staff, and Community:

BCTHS will be 100% in-person for the start of the 2021-22 school year.  After a full year of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, BCTHS is pleased to open the new school year to all of its students.  At the school’s Joint Board Committee meeting on June 28, 2021, the board approved the school’s Health and Safety Plan (posted at www.bcths.com).  In addition, Pennsylvania has lifted its mask mandate; therefore, students and staff do not need to wear face coverings while attending BCTHS.  Face coverings will be optional for all students and staff.

Back to “Normal”

For the most part, BCTHS will operate almost like before COVID-19 took root in our region.  Students will be expected to attend school in-person and will not have to be spaced apart or wear masks.  Our cafeteria will be at its maximum capacity during lunches and buses will be full again.

As outlined in the approved Health and Safety Plan, the school will continue to do its routine cleaning and disinfecting every day, hand sanitizer will still be available throughout the building and students and staff will be encouraged to wash their hands frequently, while being reminded that they should not come into the building if they do not feel well.  The plastic barriers that were visible throughout the building during last school year may still be utilized by staff if they choose.

Lessons Learned

Most of us have learned many things through this pandemic – for example, hand washing and covering your face for coughs and sneezes are two important things that helped reduce the spread of COVID-19. For the 2021-22 school year, BCTHS has safety plans in place just in case COVID-19 resurges next school year.  In addition, the BCTHS Board approved using remote/virtual learning as instructional time if necessary. The school will be able to quickly notify and announce any type of emergency closures and/or remote learning scenarios if needed.
