DECA is a co-curricular club for students in the marketing and distributive fields. There are four divisions - high school, collegiate, professional, and alumni. High School and Collegiate members have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in district, state and international competitions in a variety of areas, including modeling, apparel and accessories, advertising, business services, marketing management, full service restaurant marketing, automotive services marketing, sports and entertainment marketing, hospitality and tourism and many others.
Students also can compete on the State and International levels in other areas including the development and presentation of business plans, fashion merchandising and design plans, field research events, advertising campaigns, to name a few. Students prepare for competition through their academic marketing studies and class activities as well as club functions, including civic consciousness, leadership development, social intelligence, and vocational understanding.
The mission of DECA is to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interests in marketing management and entrepreneurship. DECA helps students develop skills and competence for marketing careers, build self-esteem, experience leadership, and practice community service. DECA is committed to the advocacy of marketing education and the growth of business and education partnerships.
