Students have two advisors to assist them with the project, an academic advisor and their technical advisor. The following guidelines will be incorporated into the project:

  • All students must complete a graduation project by May 30th of their junior year.
  • Students will maintain a log of all work done on their graduation project in their English class and technical field.
  • Students will develop a 3-page MLA research paper utilizing a minimum of 3 resources.
  • Students will have to present their findings to their technical teacher, academic teacher, as well as their fellow classmates. Proper attire is required during these presentations; no jeans, sneakers, etc.
  • Parents are welcome to attend these presentations.
  • Technical teachers may require students to complete a "problem solving" aspect of their project, however, it is not a requirement.
  • Parents/Guardians and students will be required to sign a graduation project "contract" to ensure all parties involved are on the same page.
  • Technical teachers will first review and proofread the paper for accurate content before signing off on and passing it to the academic teacher. The paper will be graded using a weighted scale: 60% content; 40% grammar and mechanics.
  • The written portion of the project must contain relevant information and no filler. Students must stick to the thesis or problem they are attempting to solve. The paper is due to the technical teacher no later than January 5, 2007.
  • ANY student failing to complete the graduation project during their junior year will be subject to the following disciplinary measures: loss of parking privileges their senior year; placement in the professional communications class to finish the project by October 31st of their senior year; revocation of Co-op rights; all senior activities while the student completes the graduation project.
