RE:  Survey/Commitment for 50% Hybrid on March 1

Dear BCTHS Students, Parents, Staff, and Community:

BCTHS plans to move to its 50% Hybrid Model on Monday, March 1.  This means that in addition to half of the students having in-person instruction on their technical rotation, students may also have in-person instruction for half-of-the-time on their academic classes too.  Since the school will be having more students in the building, BCTHS is giving parents the OPTION to have their child(ren) attend academic classes in-person or remain 100% remote for academics.  There will be no changes to the technical rotation.  In other words, students will rotate for in-person learning for their technical classes by grade (just as they are currently doing) and students on their academic side will rotate by their last names (“Alpha is for Academics”).  Students will follow their schedules EVERYDAY, regardless of being remote (virtual) or in-person.

For planning purposes, BCTHS has sent out an email survey via Skyward to allow parents who wish to have their child(ren) remain 100% remote/virtual for academic instruction to do so. The survey/commitment will help BCTHS to get an accurate number of students who may opt to remain 100% virtual for academics. You may also click on this link for the survey.

When completing the survey, please select the option (virtual or in-person for academics) for each child attending BCTHS (e.g., 2 children at BCTHS, 2 surveys needed). This choice will remain in effect until the end of the 3rd marking period.  Before the 3rd marking period ends, there will be another survey/commitment request for the remainder of the year.  Please complete the survey by Tuesday, February 16.  If we do not receive a survey for a student, BCTHS will schedule that student for in-person learning for their academic classes.

As BCTHS moves to its 50% Hybrid Model, all health and safety measures and protocols will remain in place. This includes the Commonwealth’s Universal Masking Order, which requires students and staff to be masked at all times.  Desks will be spaced as far apart as possible, but may not always be a consistent 6 feet apart.  Students will be asked to maintain 6 feet of social distancing wherever/whenever possible, including during lunches.

As BCTHS moves to its 50% Hybrid Model, staff will reinforce these procedures and explain any new ones so that students may be confident and comfortable with what is expected of them.

Please continue to wear masks, stay socially distant, wash hands, and get vaccinated as soon as possible.  Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Leon Poeske, Ed.D.
Administrative Director
